In sap asset accounting, we assign account determination to asset class. From asset classes the asset masters are determining these a/cs.
So in the first step you create these general ledger a/cs in sap by using transaction code FS00 and then create these a/c determinations. After creation you assign it to the asset classes. Asset masters are created under an asset classes by which account determination key are accessed by these asset masters while posting a transaction.
Now the question is how many account determinations I should create. To answer this you need to answer another question i.e. how many asset balance sheet a/cs do you want to create. If you want to create 5 asset classes and all those five asset classes require five asset balance sheet a/cs then you need to create 5 a/c determinations.
You can created a/c determination for asset accounting by using path;
SPRO > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Organisational structures > Asset classes > specify account determination
Click on new entries
Enter your a/c determination name and a description to that.
Your a/c determinations are created.
In the next step you assign general ledger a/cs created for different reasons related to an asset.
How to assign general ledger a/cs against a/c determination
You assign your balance sheet a/cs and depreciation a/cs created in sap to the account determination created in the first step.
To assign general ledger a/cs to account determination use path;
SPRO > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Integration with general ledger > assign general ledger account
Now select the common chart of accounts and double click on chose account allowed
By selecting the account determination double click on define acquisition and double click non book depreciation.
Update all the a/cs are required for your business purpose and save it.
Same ways you double click on define depreciation and assign all the general ledger accounts required to be assigned to your account determination as per business requirement.
