How to create activity type group in SAP CO

How to create activity type group in SAP COActivity type groups (ATG) are created for reporting purpose. Costs of a particular group can be used as a decision making tool for management. It can be created by using transaction code KLH1 or below path;

SAP easy access menu > Accounting > Controlling > Cost Center Accounting > Master Data > Activity type group > KLH1 – Create

After reaching “creation activity type group initial screen” enter the name of the group. Click on the “display menu of an act. group” tab available on the top of the screen or else press enter.

To assign a sub group to the main group you need to click on “lower level” by placing your cursor on the activity type group line. 

For adding it to a group place your cursor on it and click on activity type and then enter the range there. You can also assign activity type at a time and create your group.

Assign all of your activity type to the activity type group (ATG) you created. You can create multiple Activity Type Grp. based on your requirements.

Save it.

You can also change it by using transaction code KLH2 and display it through KLH3.

Before creating it you must have created all your activity type master data in SAP. In case you want to add some more activity type then that can also be done by changing the group using transaction code KLH2.

It is only used for reporting purpose. Management can get periodically data based on it. Statistical key figure is also used for distribution and assessment purpose. To distribute and for assessment we require secondary cost element. Before you create such cycle out first job should be to create secondary cost element for it.

Cost center grps are also used for reporting purpose in sap. As discussed above we create cost centers and assign them to cost center groups . Cost centers are assigned to standard hierarchy while creating but in this case we do not have any hierarchy. we created individual activity type master data.

Cost element groups are also another form of groups created for reporting purpose. We can create it in controlling module for different reporting requirements. Cost elements are created based on the general ledger accounts we created in financial accounting. we also create secondary cost elements in controlling module to redistribute cost within controlling module. All these cost elements are accumulated at one place for reporting purpose.
