You need to specify intervals and posting rules for depreciation posting against your company code and depreciation area. Before this step you must be ready with your company code and depreciation area settings. If both are ready then in this step against your depreciation areas and company code you need to specify intervals and posting rules for depreciation posting.
To specify intervals and posting rules for depreciation posting you can use transaction code OAYR or below path;
SPRO > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Integration with the general ledger > Post Depreciation to the general ledger > specify intervals and posting rules
Once you double click on “specify intervals and posting rules” you will be on the change view of company code selection overview screen.
Now select your company code and double click on the posting rules option. You will be displayed with the depreciation areas under the company code. Now double click on the depreciation areas.
In combination of company code and depreciation area you can specify intervals and posting rules for depreciation posting.
You can set here the depreciation to be posted monthly or bi-monthly or quarterly or semi-annual posting or annual posting
If you set it as monthly then depreciation will be run on a monthly basis.
If you are happy with the standard setting of SAP then no need to change anything. Go back and do other customization for asset accounting.
Relevant points
- To specify intervals and posting rules for depreciation posting related to other depreciation areas you need to click on “net entry” or f8 and then you can do the customization.
- If you directly want jump to another depreciation area then click on “other entry” or press shift+f7.
- You can change the posting cycle even if the system is productive. To do that you need to change the posting cycle before the next run.
- If you defined a controlling area and the company code is assigned to the same controlling area then cost center filed need to be ticked as assignment field.
If you set it monthly then SAP every month will run the dep posting transactions and automatically it ill be calculated. If you set it annually then SAP will run the transaction annually. To change in between you need to first decide the impact of such change to your business process then carry on the changes you want to make. after changing the periodic calculation to different period, all the calculation after that date will be affected by new customization.
